Thank you for sharing your story. I have two children with heart defects. My older child had one heart surgery and luckily she will not have to have another one ever. My younger child has truncus. He just had his 3rd conduit replacement last July. Abby's story is such an inspiration. How lucky are we to have such courageous and amazing heart children. I truly wish u and your. Family the best.

It's unfortunate but it sounds like the author of the other post may have had some confusing facts/data. Hard to say whether this was misinformation from the Dr. or poor writing on the author's part.

But, being one of those moms whose baby was diagnosed w/ TOF at 19 weeks into my pregnancy, chromosome defects (like 22Q 11 deletion and trisomy) were a legitimate concern. We never thought TOF seemed "incompatible with life" but there are aspects of these conditions that may be incompatible with a quality of life. It's a tough call for parents that just want their child to be happy.

Our little girl will have TOF but be otherwise healthy--a relief to us. But, we were very fortunate.

It's not likely that the dr. persuaded the family one way or the other--I saw several doctors while awaiting our amnio results--no one encouraged us to terminate or continue in any particular way. It's up to the parents, 100%. If any dr. did try to sway these parents, that's deeply unfortunate.
